What are the advantages of bikini line hair removal?

Wearing a swimsuit can be more comfortable because the hair no longer pinches between the suit and the skin. The tiny red pimples and small cuts that occur with shaving are generally are gone. The ingrown hairs that can create unsightly tender red bumps that can occur after shaving or waxing are much less likely to occur. The appearance of the swimsuit is neater without unsightly hairs visible at the edge. It is easier to get an even tan on the skin in this area. The size of the pores seem to get smaller making the skin smoother. Getting ready for a swimsuit adventure is less time consuming and intimidating. You will look and feel better about this area with or without a swimsuit.

Does it hurt?

Hair removal in the bikini area is generally well tolerated by most people. There is a sensation much like getting snapped with a rubber band. We have several ways to help control the pain. Taking Tylenol if this medication is appropriate for you an hour or so before the treatment can help. We have a cooling machine that will reduce the sensation greatly. If needed we can use topical prescription anesthetics to numb the skin in the treatment area. Injection local anesthesia can also be used if needed. Most people can tolerate the pain and we use the amount of discomfort you may be having to judge the effectiveness and safety of the treatment.

Is it expensive?

Not really. Modest package of 5 treatments is $375. Aggressive package of 5 treatments is $450. Complete package of 5 treatments is $600.

Do I have to have my picture taken for bikini line hair removal?

We would prefer you did. We will treat you with or without before and after photographs. The photographs we take are used by us in this clinic to take care of you. They will be the best way to monitor your progress and make any needed adjustments to your treatments. We will not take any photographs without your permission. We will not use the photographs for any reason without your permission. We may want to show portions of your photographs to other clients so they can see our treatment results. We may want to show portions of your photographs to other doctors so they can compare our treatments to theirs. We may attend scientific meetings or publish scientific papers to explain our treatments to other doctors with similar clinics. We may want to display portions of your photographs on our website do show interested persons our results. If we do, you will be asked again for your permission to do so, even if you have given permission earlier when you signed your consent for treatment form.

What about men?

Men do have hair removed in the same areas and we can tailor a package for you. Generally men have much more hair all over their bodies and the 'bikini' area is added to a package for the chest, abdomen or back. Removing the hair from the male genital area can be uncomfortable and is more likely to require some assistance with pain control. The prices for men are a bit higher because of the increased difficulty due to the anatomic differences.

A modest bikini trim includes the area from the belly button down to the area of the pubic hair and the upper thigh to just inside the groin fold. It includes the inner thigh area just onto the labia. The area in yellow on the diagram below. It does not include the area of the folds of the labia and the anus.

A complete bikini trim also know as a 'Brazilian' includes the area from the belly button down to the area of the pubic hair with some aggressive sculpturing of the hair line. It can include complete removal of all the pubic hair. It also includes the upper thigh, the inner thigh area and does include the area of the folds of the labia and the anus. This is the trim package that gives the neatest and easiest to maintain hair removal for wearing a thong.
